Summer Walk Challenge 2021

Join the Summer Walk Challenge!

The global pandemic has reminded us all how important it is to be healthy. Walking is one of the best ways to get and stay healthy, which is why we are challenging the residents of Gonzales, Soledad and Greenfield to try-out the new Walking School Bus and Park & Walk routes in their community this summer.

When is it?

The Summer Walk Challenge will start Monday June 14, 2021 and end Saturday July 31, 2021.

How to Participate

Join the Summer Walk Challenge in 3 easy steps!:

  1. Walk any of the routes painted on the sidewalk in your community this summer;
  2. Snap a picture; and
  3. Post on Instagram at #saferoutesmonterey.

Walk in the morning, afternoon or evening. Walk with friends, family, by yourself or with the dog! How many days per week can you walk the route(s)?

The more days you walk the route(s) the better your chance of winning! One picture per trip please : )

Live too far to walk all the way from home to school? No problem! You can still get some exercise in and help reduce traffic around the school by parking a block or two away and walking the rest of the way to school.
